Phosphorus Chloroiodides
By allowing PCl3 to stand with an excess of iodine, crystals were obtained having the composition PCl3I.
Iodine monochloride or trichloride was found to react with PCl3 giving orange-red crystals of PCl6I, which, by their formation, are probably constituted as PCl3.ICl3. The compound sublimed with partial decomposition and deliquesced in moist air with hydrolysis of the PCl3. |
